About the Music Setup

I listen to everything on my home setup. That is:

Laptop -> USB -> E-MU 0404 -> SOHA II -> Beyerdynamic DT880 250 Ohm.

It sounds glorious. This setup allows me to hear minute details while having a nice and inviting warm timbre and of course a full bass and beautiful upper register. The sound-stage of this setup tends to be very neutral: not making me feel like I am always in an opera hall (AKG) or that I am always on stage (Grado), but whatever the recording called for.

This headphone is designed to be listened at somewhere around 75 to 80 dB. Sometimes I like to listen louder, but as you may know, the typical Fletcher-Munson curve shows that as you increase the power across the frequency, the bass and a bit of the upper frequencies begin to be too loud, resulting in a bit of a recessed midrange and I need to equalize accordingly.

At night, when listening at lower levels, a reverse equalization is useful.
